Consideration of the esthetic demands of our patients is a fundamental and complex step. A side from the psychological aspects, which should not be underestimated, the practitioner’s position is a perilous one, since he must combine technique and artistry, while installing a climate of confidence likely to establish non-conflicting relations.The only available possibility is, therefore, the anticipation of the patient’s wishes as part of a global view of the problem.
In order to achieve this, a rational and objective approach, founded on the “Esthetic Ideal” and based on known criteria, will facilitate diagnosis and an esthetic treatment plan.To reinforce harmony, when it exists, through isolated restorations, or to correct a general lack of equilibrium, is the challenge of esthetic treatments. The presentation of clinical cases which illustrate both approaches will facilitate our understanding.
